Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Your Classroom Content

Our curriculum across the content areas can be improved with the inclusion of diverse perspectives. In this session I will share tools to find and evaluate resources to help you integrate inclusive content in your curriculum. These are the tools and strategies I use to curate diverse perspectives for which I am not an expert.

Inclusive Booklists
From the American Library Association: "These booklists highlight diverse voices including racial diversity and gender identity and can be used in the classroom and when ordering collections. There are many booklists in the world that are categorized by topic, but these booklists ensure that underrepresented voices are being heard as well."
Social Justice Books Booklists

ALA Youth Media Awards
Each January librarians announce a number of book awards for children and young adults. Some of these awards are related to specific identities.
